Good to know
Art business glossary300, 240 or 150?
300 DPI for prints people hold or see close up. 240 is what most giclée printers work at. 150 is fine for a large print seen from across a room.
Scan it, if you can
A flatbed scan at 600 DPI of a piece on paper gives a file you can print at twice the size. For canvas, photograph it square-on in even daylight, with the camera's largest setting.
Don't stretch a small file
Enlarging a file in software does not add detail; it only adds pixels. If a size comes up too small, photograph or scan the work again at a higher resolution.
